Why is dementia care important?

Memory loss is a common early symptom of dementia, and it is crucial to recognize that this goes beyond normal aging. Sudden memory issues in individuals over sixty should be a cause for concern. Dementia can lead to challenges with short-term memory, making it difficult for individuals to manage daily tasks and self-care. This can result in confusion, cognitive impairment, and a decline in quality of life.

Individuals with dementia may struggle with basic activities, such as personal hygiene and meal preparation, which can negatively impact their well-being. They might also pose risks to themselves and others, as cognitive impairments can lead to dangerous situations, such as mishandling hot objects.

Dementia Care Services

Care Bridge Home offers a range of services that cover medical, non-medical, personal and support services to keep people living with dementia living independently at home by connecting with families and community services.

Various studies and research show that the impact of the dementia can be reduced if a person remains in an environment that is familiar to them or at home, as long as they can live with the right support and care.

Is home care a need in dementia?

Moving somewhere else can be incredibly painful and stressful for a person with dementia and can cause significant levels of anxiety and depression.

With Care Bridge Home, this is not required because people living with dementia can get all the support they need at home.

Care Bridge Home strives to help a person with dementia maintain a high level of independence, which can help greatly reduce symptoms or live with symptoms with proper support and care.

Why is dementia care important?

Memory loss is one of the most frequent and early symptoms of dementia. It is important to note that an individual will not always recognize memory loss as dementia and may simply note it as a sign of aging. However, sudden memory loss problems for a person over the age of sixty should always be a concern.

A person with dementia may have difficulty remembering information in the short term and may need to rely on friends or relatives.  When a person has memory problems, which can result in confusion and cognitive impairment, they may not be able to take care of themselves. They may struggle with basic tasks, including personal care and meal preparation. If this goes unnoticed, it can lead to a serious decline in the quality of life of an individual.

A person with dementia can also be a danger to themselves and those around them. When a person has dementia, they can wrestle with typical tasks and develop memory problems.

For example, even something as simple as a teacup can be dangerous.  A person with dementia may pour boiling hot water over his hand rather than into the cup.  Or they might forget that the cup is hot when they grab it and spill it over themselves.

A person living with dementia may forget who they are or who their family members are, and it can be difficult for them and their family members at home.

Through Care Bridge Home, individuals living with dementia will receive the right support they need to maintain their quality of life and will not be neglected.
